Filter Toolbar

The filter toolbar sits below the search bar and provides visual controls for narrowing results without typing filter syntax.

Extension Filter

Click the extension dropdown to filter by file type. AnySearch 3.0 supports category filters in the toolbar, kind: syntax and natural-language search; File Landscape presents a compatible high-level storage breakdown:

• Code: .swift, .py, .js, .ts, .tsx, .go, .rs, .java, .c, .cpp, .h, .css, .html, .json, .yaml, .xml, .sql, .sh
• Images: .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .svg, .webp, .ico, .bmp, .tiff
• Video: .mp4, .mov, .avi, .mkv, .wmv, .flv, .webm
• Audio: .mp3, .wav, .aac, .flac, .ogg, .m4a
• Documents: .pdf, .doc, .docx, .txt, .md, .rtf, .pages, .epub, .html
• Spreadsheets / Presentations: .xls, .xlsx, .csv, .numbers, .ppt, .pptx, .key
• Data / Fonts / Apps: .json, .yaml, .sqlite, .parquet, .ttf, .otf, .app and more

Size Filter

Filter files by size using presets or custom ranges:

• Less than 1 KB
• 1 KB – 1 MB
• 1 MB – 100 MB
• 100 MB – 1 GB
• Greater than 1 GB
• Custom range (e.g., 1mb..100mb)

Date Filter

Filter by today, yesterday, recent-day ranges, this month/year or a custom date range. Relative presets are recalculated at search time, so “Today” stays correct after midnight. The query language also supports exact months/days, open-ended ranges and created:; see Search Syntax.

Directory Scope

Limit search to specific directories:

• Global: Search all indexed locations
• Desktop: Only files on your Desktop
• Documents: Only files in Documents
• Downloads: Only files in Downloads
• Custom: Choose any indexed directory

Active Filters & Autocomplete

Active filters appear as tags below the search bar. Click × to remove the corresponding syntax. While typing ext:, kind:, modified: and other filters, choose a suggestion or press Tab to accept the first completion.
